Updated Windows® versions of the Radeon™ ProRender plug-ins for 3ds Max®, Maya®, and Blender™ are now available that include the same new features found in our recently released macOS® versions.
Radeon ProRender is AMD’s fast, easy, and incredible physically-based rendering engine for CAD designers and 3D artists that is available for many popular digital content-creation applications with free plug-ins and add-ins for Autodesk® 3ds Max, Autodesk Maya, Blender, and Dassault Systèmes® SOLIDWORKS®. It is also natively integrated into Maxon Cinema 4D™ R19.
Following the April release of the new macOS versions of the Radeon ProRender plug-ins for Blender and Maya, updated Windows versions of both these plug-ins and an updated Linux® version of the plug-in for Blender are now available. In addition, the Radeon ProRender plug-in for 3ds Max for Windows has been updated to include the same new features. As with the macOS versions, these updates include several new improvements designed to accelerate artists’ workflows and make their lives easier.
Accelerating Artists’ Workflows
The plug-ins for 3ds Max, Maya, and Blender now include an updated Uber Shader that enables better physically-based rendering workflows, with more realistic defaults and enhanced subsurface scattering (SSS) for better skin rendering. There is also an updated Light Shader that includes area light shapes, color temperature controls, and texture maps to create more realistic lighting.
Texture color space controls have been added, enabling artists to set the color space to either sRGB or linear, making it easier to work with PBR textures, and there are now more AOV (Arbitrary Output Variables) options, such as reflections and diffuse lighting, in each of the plug-ins.
Denoising Cuts Final Render Times
Already available in the Windows, macOS, and Linux versions of Radeon ProRender for Blender and in the macOS version for Maya, we are now bringing our interactive denoising technology to the Windows versions of the plug-ins for 3ds Max and Maya. Radeon ProRender supports both denoising of final renders to cut render times and of interactive rendering to produce clearer interactive viewport renders.
New Features for the Blender Plug-In
We are also adding two features currently only available in the in the macOS version of Radeon ProRender for Blender to the Windows and Linux versions. Support for volumetrics allows artists to render advanced effects like smoke, fog, and clouds to create even more realistic images, and Adaptive Subdivision automatically uses distance to calculate how much subdivision is needed to smooth an object’s geometry, allowing artists to easily render complex shapes from simple meshes.
