Limitless Creation at Your Fingertips

This evening at our Capsaicin Siggraph event in Los Angeles, Radeon Technologies Group under the helm of Raja Koduri unveiled the Radeon™ Pro WX 9100 workstation graphics card and Radeon™ Pro SSG graphics card for professionals.  These cards are the culmination of years of meticulous work within AMD to produce our most advanced, forward looking architecture ever, and these cards round out the top of the Radeon Pro stack that was first revealed to the world at this exact same event last year.

Based on the highly touted “Vega” GPU architecture, the Radeon Pro WX 9100 and Radeon Pro SSG brings some of the most advanced innovations to market.  One of the key new features that will make large waves in the professional industry is our new High Bandwidth Cache Controller (HBCC).  This state-of-the-art memory system removes the limitations of traditional graphics memory.  Gone are the days where graphics cards are limited by mere GBs of memory.  We’ve opened the door to the terabyte memory era, enabling vastly higher performance for the most taxing use-case scenarios.

With HBCC, fine-grained memory movement is automatically controlled by custom hardware, allowing data to seamlessly move between onboard graphics memory and available system memory.  This allows the Radeon™ Pro WX 9100 to access additional system memory beyond its native 16GB onboard memory for workloads that require the additional capacity. The Radeon™ Pro SSG takes it one step further by having 2TB of solid state graphics memory on board.  This creates an optimized path for transferring and processing large data sets, a key feature for those who want to do intense graphics workloads like real-time 8K video scrubbing and 360o video stitching, or if you’re in the oil and gas business, process massive datasets never possible before on a GPU.

A great solution is comprised of many different parts.  Hardware innovations alone do not translate into great solutions – you also need a software ecosystem to take advantage of the hardware.  AMD has doubled down on developing great drivers and software support – both internally and externally with our software partners – to enable creative professionals to produce stunningly photorealistic images.  One of our close partners is Adobe, who we are working very closely with to implement AMD’s SSG API code directly into Adobe Creative Cloud, making applications like Premiere Pro and After Effects natively SSG aware.  This means Adobe applications can take advantage of the unique features found on the Radeon™ Pro SSG, such as the large data caching ability, which allows users to edit and play back up to 8K content in real time with virtually zero frame drops.

Our continuous commitment to open standards is prevalent in the ongoing expansion of our software ecosystem. One plugin that has seen great adoption with many of our software partners such as Autodesk, Blender and Maxon, is our very own Radeon ProRender, a powerful physically-based rendering engine that is built on the highly efficient and fast-performing Radeon Rays technology. Creators like you can leverage this scalable ray-tracing engine that uses open industry standards to harness GPU and CPU performance for swift and impressive results. Combining the power of the Radeon™ Pro WX 9100 or Radeon™ Pro SSG, and popular design applications that are planned to be fully optimized and certified for Radeon™ Pro like Autodesk® 3ds Max® with the Radeon ProRender plugin, you now have the ultimate formula to unleash your imagination.

We’ve barely begun scratching at the surface of what these amazing cards are capable of doing.  Our team has been working diligently to provide additional online resources so you can see for yourself what these cards can do.  Please visit the many resources we have available and witness the art of the impossible.  The Radeon™ Pro SSG and Radeon™ Pro WX 9100 will be available on store shelves Q3, 2017.

So with HBCC technology the graphic card can use system momory (which I take to be RAM) as if it’s onboard memory?

May I know the price for the Pro SSG, and when is it going to be available in the Philippines?

Without going back to re-watch part of the Siggraph event, I want to say the WX9100 was quoted at US$2,199.00 & the SSG (drool) at US$6,999.00; as to availability in your location, I wouldn’t know.

If EKWB would make a full-cover water block for the SSG, I could stuff it in a NCASE M1 chassis with a Ryzen R7 1800X & have a very powerful SFF DCC workstation!

I would love them, I need one of each, or two, lol

can the infinity fabric link between 2 GPU cards ??
What is the speed compare to NVlink ??
