This year’s ‘VR on the Lot’ Event, presented by AMD Studios & VR Society/Advanced Imaging Society, featured VR, AR, and AI presentations, panel discussions, and immersive demo experiences to the industry’s top innovators and enthusiast. The event hosted over 1500 industry leaders, insiders, experts, and educators with hands-on demonstrations, actionable solutions, and ROI strategies for entertainment, advertising, and marketing professionals.
The AMD Studios demo booth welcomed 800+ visitors a day and provided hospitality coupled with technical experts in the field to highlight design wins of AMD’s latest hardware. We showcased the awarding winning HBO series, Silicon Valley’s new VR Experience, Hacker Hostel, by Rewind as well as demos of innovative experiences in real-time rendering and AR manipulation of light and objects.
One guest commented, “the AMD team put on a fantastic event and did a lot to show that VR is real and a creative platform that will be immersed in by more and more people.”
Roy Taylor, AMD Corporate VP of Worldwide Head of Media & Entertainment delivered a progressive keynote speech highlighting location-based VR and revealing details of an AMD Studios partnership with Pure Imagination and FOX to develop a new free-roaming location-based VR franchise. To emphasize the promising future of location-based VR, Roy invited the Co-Founder of Sky Limit Entertainment, Sam Wang, to present the success of the first location-based VR theme park in China, SoReal.
AMD Studios also welcomed visual effects and film students of Chapman University to VR on the Lot to celebrate their achievements in film and VR. These students have been chosen for AMD Studios Creators Circle Scholarships to produce their senior thesis film projects, all featuring visual effects, on AMD hardware and using Foundry’s Nuke 11.0 software. We are excited to provide them with the highest quality of technical support and can not wait to see their completed films.
